Salesforce Announces End of Support for Workflow Rules & Process Builder

March 20, 2024
In a recent announcement, Salesforce has revealed that Workflow Rules and Process Builder will no longer be supported after December 31, 2025.
Salesforce is urging users to migrate their automation processes to Flow Builder before the deadline to ensure uninterrupted support and access to bug fixes. This move comes as Salesforce aims to shift its focus towards a more modern, extensible, low-code automation solution: Flow Builder.
Why Is This Happening?
If you’re wondering about the rationale behind retiring Workflow Rules and Process Builder, Salesforce emphasizes its dedication to evolving with the needs of its users. By concentrating resources on Flow Builder, Salesforce aims to provide a more efficient and adaptable automation solution tailored to meet the demands of today’s dynamic business environment.
Flow is capable of so much more than either Workflow Rules or Process Builder.
In particular, Flow offers:
Better overall performance
Functionality to improve high-volume automation, such as Fast Field Updates (Before Save)
Powerful error handling and debugging
Repeatable and reusable functionality, such as the use of Subflows
Additional features, such as Screen Flows
If you have active Workflow Rules or Process Builder processes running beyond 2025, you will no longer be able to receive support, and any bugs will no longer be fixed.
What Next?
Salesforce recommends implementing a migration plan to Flow Builder well in advance of the deadline. You can utilize the Migrate to Flow tool and access extensive support resources provided by Salesforce.
The first step is to determine which processes need migrating and start planning your ‘rebuild and enhance’ strategy. Various Workflow Rules, Process Builder processes, and existing Flow may need to be merged.
With the end of support for Workflow Rules and Process Builder looming, Salesforce users are advised to take action to migrate their automation processes to Flow Builder before December 31, 2025. Failure to do so could result in a lack of customer support and bug fixes for existing processes beyond the deadline.
okay and what would be super rad as if they would go through trailhead and go through the documentation and remove everything that has references to it because then you have tutorials with holes in them and information that's not there and pointing people in the wrong direction and I want to die.
