Build Your Personal Brand With ChatGPT
By Christine Marshall
You can always expect recruiters and potential employers to take a look at sites, such as LinkedIn, to get a better idea of who you are and your experience – so creating a solid personal brand is a must.
ChatGPT and similar AI tools can provide tips on crafting effective LinkedIn profiles and offer guidance on networking strategies or content creation. Let’s look at the ways you can use ChatGPT to establish a compelling online presence and personal brand…
Use ChatGPT to Optimize Your LinkedIn Profile
There are many different ways you can use ChatGPT to optimize your LinkedIn profile and boost your personal branding efforts.
- Profile review: First up, AI can provide tips to improve your profile, including what information is needed and in what format. Many people are incapable of presenting information in an easy-to-understand and quantifiable manner – just by achieving this, you’ll be sure to stand out. You can ask ChatGPT to review your profile and provide actionable tips.
- Headline: ChatGPT can help you create a compelling headline that includes keywords relevant to your industry or role. It can also give you a breakdown of why certain information should be given in a certain order.
- Summary: ChatGPT can assist in creating an attention-grabbing, catchy summary of your experience that will encourage people to keep scrolling through your profile.
- Experience: ChatGPT can assist you in making your job descriptions more compelling and achievement-orientated, pointing out the areas to highlight and where more or less information is needed.
- Skills: Ask ChatGPT which skills are most relevant to include or how many skills it is optimal to add.
- Networking: One of my favorite ways to utilize AI is getting tips on how to find and connect with other Salesforce professionals, for example, recommended groups on LinkedIn.
- Content creation: Suggestions and guidance on creating engaging and informative content.
Use Cases
“Can you suggest ways I can improve my LinkedIn headline?”
I asked ChatGPT if it could improve my LinkedIn headline and pasted in the current headline as follows: “Salesforce MVP / 11 x Salesforce Certified / Salesforce Administrator / Bristol Salesforce Admin User Group Leader / Supermums Mentor”.
Here’s what ChatGPT had to say:
Your LinkedIn headline is an essential part of your profile because it’s one of the first things people see when they come across your profile. It’s an opportunity to make a strong impression and showcase your key qualifications. While your current headline is informative, you can make it even more compelling and engaging. Here’s a revised headline that adds more impact and context:
Salesforce MVP | 11x Certified Administrator | Bristol Salesforce Group Leader | Supermums Mentor | Salesforce Enthusiast
Here’s a breakdown of the changes and why they can be effective:
- Position the Most Important Information First: Start with “Salesforce MVP,” which is a prestigious recognition and will immediately grab attention.
- Highlight Your Certifications: Mention the “11x Certified Administrator” to emphasize your expertise and commitment to Salesforce.
- Emphasize Leadership Roles: Keep “Bristol Salesforce Group Leader” to showcase your leadership within the Salesforce community.
- Mention Your Mentorship Role: Include “Supermums Mentor” to demonstrate your commitment to mentoring and supporting others in their Salesforce journeys.
- Conclude with a General Descriptor: End with “Salesforce Enthusiast” to convey your passion for the platform.
This revised headline provides a quick snapshot of your key qualifications, accomplishments, and roles, making it more engaging and informative for anyone who views your profile. It’s essential to keep it concise while highlighting the most relevant and impressive aspects of your professional identity.”
I’m not convinced by these changes, and this is why AI is only a starting point – you still need human input! So I asked ChatGPT, “Is it really a good idea to remove the keyword “Salesforce Administrator” from my LinkedIn headline?
ChatGPT replied:
Including the keyword “Salesforce Administrator” in your LinkedIn headline can be a good idea, especially if you’re actively looking for job opportunities in that role. This keyword makes it clear to recruiters and potential employers what your primary expertise is and can help you appear in relevant search results.
However, the key is to strike a balance between including keywords and showcasing your unique qualifications and accomplishments. If you have other significant roles or achievements that you want to highlight, you can keep “Salesforce Administrator” in your headline while adding those additional elements. Here’s a balanced approach:
Salesforce MVP | 11x Salesforce Certified | Salesforce Administrator | Bristol Salesforce Group Leader | Supermums Mentor | Salesforce Enthusiast
This way, you maintain the keyword “Salesforce Administrator” while still emphasizing your MVP status, certifications, leadership role, mentorship, and enthusiasm for Salesforce. It’s important to consider your career goals and what you want to convey to those viewing your profile. If you primarily want to be seen as a Salesforce Administrator, then keeping it in your headline is a good choice.
In the end, the only difference to my headline is the addition of “Salesforce Enthusiast”, which I don’t like and won’t be adding as it adds nothing, in my opinion.
“How can I make the following job description more compelling and achievement-oriented?”
Next up, I used ChatGPT’s assistance to rewrite an old job description. I asked it to help me make it more compelling and achievement-orientated and pasted in the existing description:
ChatGPT comes back with something that looks significantly better, if a bit wordy, but still has limitations:
To make your job description as a Salesforce Administrator more compelling and achievement-oriented, you should focus on showcasing specific accomplishments, demonstrating the impact of your work, and using action-oriented language. Here’s a revised and more compelling version of your job description:

My proactive approach to continuous improvement has resulted in significant enhancements across the organization.

This revised job description highlights your achievements, leadership, and the tangible impact of your work as a Salesforce Administrator, making it more compelling and achievement-oriented.
It all sounds pretty good, but it’s limited by the information I gave. ChatGPT has used ‘action-oriented language’, but I didn’t provide any quantifiable achievements or statistics, so it still seems quite fluffy.
ChatGPT has also added an entire paragraph at the end of the job description about becoming a Salesforce MVP, which is completely unrelated and not particularly appropriate!
“What do the top 1% of LinkedIn profiles have in common?”
Don’t forget to think beyond Salesforce and use AI to learn global best practices. I asked ChatGPT, “What do the top 1% of LinkedIn profiles have in common?”
It came back with 20 common traits and practices among highly influential LinkedIn profiles. Some of them were fairly obvious, but others were insightful, for example:
- Rich Media: They use the “Featured” section to showcase their work, presentations, articles, and videos, giving visitors a more comprehensive view of their expertise.
- Strategic Connections: They strategically connect with influential individuals and decision-makers in their industry or target companies.
