How to Create a B2B Marketing Analytics Dashboard

By Jennifer Contino

October 14, 2022

While B2B Marketing Analytics (B2BMA) comes with dashboards out of the box, you can also create your own dashboard to visualize the data you desire. In this guide, we’ll cover how to create a custom dashboard in B2BMA.

A dashboard is a curated set of charts, metrics, and tables based on the data in one or more lenses. A dashboard is a group of charts, whereas a chart can also be referred to as a lens when a singular visualization. The chart is housed within the dashboard. Essentially, you’re creating charts (also known as lenses) and combining them in a dashboard.

B2B Marketing Analytics Dashboard Tips

  1. Pick the right template: With 10+ to choose from, these templates provide you with the ways you can arrange your data. Alternatively, choose to create a blank dashboard, which I recommend if you are just starting out – it’s a great way to get familiar with the different types of dashboard components.
  2. When you build lenses, use widgets and filters. These allow you to create different containers for your data. You could create a quick summary in number form, use a chart, or add a filter for the end user.
  3. You should always preview and test before finalizing your dashboard.

How to Create a Dashboard in B2BMA

  1. Navigate to the dashboard page. Then click create → Dashboard.
  2. Select the type. For this example, I’ll create a blank dashboard.

Create a Chart

  1. Drag the chart widget to the dashboard. Hover over the component → click chart.
  2. Select your dataset. For this example, I am going to use the dataset we created, Email Templates and Campaigns. You will be prompted to create a lens with the dataset. So you’ll want to create your filter and groups.
  3. Select your chart type (visualization).
  4. Segment by: chose your metric. Segment by: Chose your group. Ex: Name. Click done. Your visualization will be added to your dashboard. You can increase or decrease the size of your component so the data will fit.

There will now be a chart component on your dashboard. Remember to resize and name your component.

Summary

My recommendation when getting started is to target a specific question. Salesforce, Pardot (Account Engagement), and third-party tools, hold a world of data – so building dashboards in B2BMA can quickly become overwhelming.

B2BMA is included in specific packages if you don’t have it reach out to your account executive. For help in getting started, reach out to us here, for a complimentary consult, we’d love to help!
