Slack Pricing and AI Feature Changes You Need to Know

By Andreea Doroftei

With the Summer ‘25 Salesforce release already being one of the best in recent memory – packed with new features and enhancements across the board – it should come as no surprise that Slack subscriptions are also seeing a few changes, along with more features to increase productivity and bridge the gap between your CRM data and discussions in Slack.

Let’s explore the newest Slack updates – what you can expect, what’s available today, and where pricing changes come into play.

Pricing Updates

Considering the rapid innovation happening in Slack and other Salesforce products, pricing is being adjusted to reflect the additional options customers will have available. It’s also worth noting that the last pricing adjustment happened back in 2022, and even now, the change will not impact all customers.

While Pro subscriptions will not be impacted in terms of cost, and the Free subscription will remain free – with additional features – the Business+ plan will see an approximately 20% increase in cost per user per month. Additionally, a new Enterprise+ subscription has been made available. It includes access to the entire Slack functionality as well as enterprise search, which provides a unified way to search for information across your tech stack – be it Salesforce or even third-party tools such as Google Drive and Asana.

What’s Changing for Each Subscription?

Salesforce decided on quite a few changes when it comes to infusing AI functionality within Slack for business to seamlessly supercharge their productivity without having to navigate multiple tools and tabs. Additionally, all subscription tiers will now benefit from enhanced security controls, including session duration, SAML-based SSO, and native device management.

  • Free Subscription: No change in the existing functionality, but access to Salesforce channels has been extended to everyone on the free plan, allowing them to enjoy the benefits of integration and bridge the gap between conversational data and Salesforce records.
  • Pro Subscription: No change in pricing, but quite a few additions to the existing functionality at no separate cost. These include the ability to embed third-party AI assistants such as Adobe Express, AI-generated huddle notes and channel summaries, and of course, built-in Salesforce integrations and Salesforce channels. Keep in mind that while accessing the functionality in Slack won’t incur any additional costs, your organization should already have the related products – such as Agentforce – purchased.
  • Business+ Subscription: Alongside a price increase, Business+ subscribers will benefit from a wide array of functionalities, on top of what’s included in the Pro subscription – such as Salesforce forecasting, managing approvals, and accounting for real-time event triggers.
  • Enterprise+ Subscription: The new and highest subscription tier for Slack encompasses the entire functionality Slack has to offer – and most notably, the ability to search for information across apps outside of the Salesforce platform – transforming Slack into a central hub for communication, knowledge, and overall productivity for your organization.

Salesforce Channels

Ever since the Slack acquisition, having a seamless integration with Salesforce has been one of the most talked-about topics and something to look forward to. With Salesforce Channels now being available – and even free for anyone using both Salesforce and Slack to try out – this could represent a starting point for many more organizations to take advantage of the readily available options to transform their processes and remove silos, while also supporting Salesforce’s cross-selling motions and overall adoption of both platforms.

Making Salesforce Channels available to virtually all Salesforce customers – even if they are free Slack subscribers – also plays into offering a feasible alternative to start moving away from Chatter. This shift is potentially related to Parker Harris’s mention at Dreamforce ‘24, which informed the community that Chatter might be going away soon.

Directly from Salesforce records, teams will be able to share updates, add collaborators to the Slack channel, and always stay up to speed with everything happening around their most important customers and deals. On the Slack side, Salesforce channels will be grouped in a separate section, with each channel having a direct link to the record and the ability to add related lists as tabs for easy access to record details, quick actions, and even related lists!

Regardless of the subscription you’re currently on or how you plan to continue leveraging Slack within your organization, the new additions are worth exploring sooner rather than later to assess how they can make a difference in your users’ day-to-day experience.
