As Salesforce professionals, we are familiar with the endless possibilities of configuring and customizing Salesforce to suit a variety of business use cases – either declaratively or programmatically – to extend the out-of-the-box functionality. These tools allow us to have tailored functionality and automated processes with clicks and low to no code, directly in Salesforce.
In this post, we’ll cover all of the currently available Salesforce builders, alongside their functionality and intended uses. Let’s dive in!
Builders Breakdown
While this list may change over time, we collated the main builders and their respective functionality, which can be used either within dedicated clouds or across the board to enhance the user experience and achieve tailored automations.
Lightning App Builder
If you’re looking to tweak a record page or embed instructions on the Homepage for your users, then Lightning App Builder is the place to be!
This tool allows you to create and edit Lightning Pages with a drag-and-drop interface, with various attributes to choose from when setting up each component. Lightning App Builder removes the need to use Page Layouts and taps into the newer Dynamic Forms and Dynamic Actions functionality.

Lightning apps are created and initially configured in the App Manager, but subsequent customizations are performed in the Lightning App Builder. While the customization process occurs in the App Builder, accessing it through the App Manager provides a slightly different user experience compared to working directly with pages.
Lightning Report and Dashboard Builders
Perhaps the most widely used by Salesforce professionals and users of the builders on this list, the Report and Dashboards Builders within the Lightning experience are not only intuitive and easy to use, but include various features to truly bring your analytics to life.
Within the Report Builder, users can:
- Select specific columns to display.
- Group data using up to three groupings.
- Add one row-level formula.
- Apply conditional formatting.
- Create bucket fields for categorizing data.
- Include summary formulas for quick calculations.
- Quickly switch currencies if multiple currencies are enabled in the org.
Once the reports are ready, the Dashboard Builder enables the creation of dashboards with a maximum of 25 widgets – up to 20 of these widgets can be sourced from Reports. Additionally, users now have the capability to enhance their dashboards with rich text for instructions or explanations, images, and up to five filters.
Schema Builder
Although often overlooked, Schema Builder remains a trusty out-of-the-box option to analyze your data model. This can be especially useful when opening an org for the first time, for example, to quickly see the fields, field types, and relationships between objects.
Additionally, you can even use this tool to create fields across multiple objects or a brand new object, without having to navigate away to Object Manager. However, in case you do need to review the page layouts, you can navigate to them from each individual tile, saving you some clicks.

Process Builder
Process Builder helps you automate a wide range of tasks and can transform the way Salesforce works for your users. With Process Builder, admins can trigger notifications, assignment rules, and of course help with field updates and record creation – be it Sales, Marketing or Service processes.
With the expansion of Flow Builder, Process Builder is well on its way to being fully retired, and all Salesforce customers are prompted to prioritize the migration of their existing processes to Flow – either manually or by using the Flow Migration tool.
As of now, existing processes can still be edited, but new ones can no longer be created. This means that it would be a good idea to prioritize the migration sooner rather than later.
Note: This is also a great opportunity to clean up any legacy processes and redesign them directly within Flow Builder.

Flow Builder
Even if you’re new to the ecosystem or a seasoned professional, there is something for everyone to enjoy within Flow Builder, which can now be considered the main low-code automation tool within Salesforce.
With a wide range of flow types available, chances are that even more complex scenarios can be created and maintained with Flows, without having to jump into Apex from the get-go. This does not mean, however, that everything should be Flows – just like not everything has to be Apex or a Lightning Web Component. It’s all about choosing what’s best for the use case at hand, and that could be a combination of all three.

From the very beginning, a significant differentiator between Flow Builder and the other available automation tools were Screen Flows. It created guided experiences with clicks not code, that opened up a whole new world of possibilities for Salesforce professionals.
Screen is just one of the available elements, as depending on the Flow type, there may be more or fewer available. The Decision element is a common one that can help you break your process into different paths, and of course, the Get, Create, Update, or Delete elements cannot be forgotten either.
If your use case calls for time-based automations, Flow Builder has got us covered here too. Scheduled Flows, scheduled Paths, or even the Wait elements are worth exploring in different contexts. If you need to create a more complex validation rule that needs to account for related records, you can also achieve that within Flow Builder through the use of the Custom Error element.

You may be under the impression that Flow Builder and Approval Processes are the only “declarative” automation tools remaining, but this may not be the case for much longer.
As of Spring ‘25, Flow Builder is also becoming the go-to place to create approval flows, by leveraging Flow Orchestrations, Screen Flow, and autolaunched Flows, at no additional cost. With a fresh look, a brand new creation wizard included in the Summer ‘25 release, and backed up by the Flow Builder capabilities, this is yet another game-changing functionality for Salesforce Admins and users alike.
Experience Builder
When it comes to managing either Customer, Partner, or support-focused digital experiences within Salesforce, Experience Builder is where all the magic happens!
Here you can tailor your entire site experience, including page and page version creation, adding components, tweaking the navigation, and of course defining audiences as needed. Also, branding-related aspects can easily be controlled directly from this builder, too.
Experience Builder allows Salesforce Admins to create tailored digital experiences with drag and drop components, but also permits custom HTML and CSS overrides for more advanced users to enjoy, without having to create custom components.
This builder empowers admins to create fully functional and dynamic sites that showcase Salesforce data. It offers extensive control over site elements, including content and navigation, allowing admins to easily present stakeholders with tailored solutions. Keep in mind that a preview functionality is also available, so in most cases, you may not need to publish the updates to see them in action.
Email Template Builder
Email Templates are one of the items which is most likely used in every Salesforce org so that the notifications being sent out are nicely formatted, have a header and footer, and of course, include relevant Salesforce record information.
The Lightning Email Template Builder is a step up in terms of both experience and capabilities in comparison with the Classic Email Templates. It not only allows for granular control of the components and images, but also allows for more advanced features that creators can add by dragging and dropping them within the sections.
For example, you could add a clickable button in a matter of seconds, and rapidly control the style, position, and see how it looks alongside the other components. As expected, the template can include merge fields to ensure that the record data will be dynamically populated based on the record.

Notification Builder
Ever wondered how to trigger a bell notification in Salesforce? It starts with creating a Notification Type in the Notification Builder section of Setup.
From there, you can use Salesforce Flows to customize the message and send it to your users. While it’s not a full-fledged builder with its own interface, it’s still a useful tool if your team relies on in-app notifications.
Cadence Builder
Part of Sales Engagement – which extends Sales Cloud with tools for efficient prospecting, meeting management, and faster selling – Cadence Builders lets you design and reuse outreach sequences across Sales and BDR teams. Both Cadence Builder Classic and the recently introduced Cadence Builder 2.0 can now be used.
Note: Cadence Builder Classic is set to be retired in a future release, so it’s a good idea to exclusively use Cadence Builder 2.0.
When creating a cadence, there are multiple steps to choose from, including emails, calls, and even LinkedIn messages, with some steps being automated by autolaunched Flows. Positive or negative tracks can be triggered based on predefined entry rules, depending on the recipient’s behavior, such as clicking a link.
To further enhance the cadence and overall experience for your reps, you can also call Screen Flows directly from the cadence as an additional step. For both the autolaunched Flow and Screen Flow, there are dedicated Flow types you need to use when creating the automations in order for the option to appear within Cadence Builder.
Driving enablement at scale can be a heavy lift for all organizations, but with Salesforce Sales Enablement, companies can bring resources, action items, and even milestones directly into their users’ flow of work. Also, orgs with Enterprise edition and above can try out Enablement Lite for free for up to fifteen users and two published programs.
Enablement Programs are created with the help of Program Builder, a drag-and-drop interface very similar in look and feel to Cadence Builder, where either simple or more complex multi-day programs can be created in a matter of minutes. Managers can easily arrange the items in sections, determine which day from the start of the program the items will be due, and seamlessly track revenue outcomes with milestones and associated metrics.

Code Builder
Code Builder is a web-based integrated development environment (IDE) that provides the power and flexibility of the Visual Studio Code platform, which comes packed with the add-ons you and your team need to dive into Salesforce development: Salesforce CLI, Apex, SOQL, and Lightning Web Components.
With this plug-and-play approach, Salesforce helps teams cut back on IDE setup time and get straight to building and deploying across their orgs. Similar to VSCode, you can make use of source control functionality by connecting to your GitHub repository or to one from another Git provider.
Of course, Salesforce Developers can also make use of Agentforce for Developers within Code Builder directly, as soon as an org on a suitable edition is connected.
Delivered as a 2GP-managed package, Code Builder has its own dedicated Setup page, which can be enabled to start the installation. Professional, Enterprise, and Unlimited editions come with a set number of Code Builder licenses, but are also included as part of certain add-ons.

Additionally, what about a builder within a builder? Code Builder also includes a useful SOQL Builder, which can be quickly accessed for you to visualize any data from across Salesforce objects.
The builder itself has a user-friendly interface for users who prefer to select what they need from drop-downs, but a separate tab also opens where you can simply write the query you need – each tab will also be updated with changes made on the other one in real time.
The query results will appear as a side panel, and can also be exported in either .CSV or .JSON format.

List Builder (Industries)
Actionable segmentation can help teams create personalized outreach programs, be it as a Sales initiative or an outbound campaign for Service, for example. Within List Builder, actionable lists can be created based on existing list definitions for any use case, with just a few clicks.
Since the dataset related to the list definition will be used as the data source, Managers or Executives who understand the target audience can be the ones creating the lists themselves.
Note: This option is available for clouds that have Industry Sales Excellence and Query for Data Pipelines User licenses. There is a variation of the List Builder for Data Cloud, which leverages Data Cloud Segments.

Mobile App Builders
Mobile Builder for the Seller-Focused Experience
Available for most Salesforce editions and license types, the Salesforce Mobile App has seen significant changes recently, with a newer look and feel as well as performance enhancements.
The Sales Cloud Mobile app can easily be accessed by enabled users through the App Launcher directly from the Salesforce App, allowing them to easily review records, log activities, and check their calendar in the new experience wherever they are.
For each App Configuration, you can create Object Configurations for each individual object. The builder allows you to rearrange the components or add new ones, and while the Related Lists can be chosen within the builder, others, such as the Compact Layout, will have to be configured outside the builder. Each App Configuration can be assigned to a profile so that the layout will meet the needs of different roles.

Field Service Mobile App Builder
Used to set up custom navigation for users of the Field Service Mobile app, the Field Service Mobile App Builder allows admins to create different configurations and assign them to profiles within the org.
Various components can be dragged and dropped in a mobile app preview, then organized accordingly for each configuration. Depending on the component chosen, additional parameters are available, such as filters for List Views. For an enhanced experience, admins are also allowed to choose the icon for each of the tabs that will be displayed.

AI Builders
Prompt Builder
Recently made available as part of the Salesforce Foundations offering, Prompt Builder allows Salesforce Admins or specific users can create reusable Prompt Templates, which can then be used by entire teams to tap into generative AI capabilities and obtain a tailored output for their needs.
Creating prompts in Prompt Builder may seem a similar process to other tools mentioned, but the true power is in the ability to ground the prompt in your very own Salesforce or Data Cloud data, in a secure way, courtesy of the Einstein Trust Layer.
The input can be structured or unstructured data, as well as multi-modal. All this will ensure that every single response will be relevant to your team, up to date, and contextual to the Salesforce records or scenario at hand.

With Summer ’25, Prompt Builder is getting a brand new look and feel to make it even easier and more intuitive to navigate while bringing all of your prompts to life!

Agentforce Builder
The agentic wave is taking over the Salesforce ecosystem, and there’s no denying that Salesforce professionals will have to become familiar with everything Agentforce related – including Agentforce Builder, where, as the name suggests, agents will be created and customized.
Within Agentforce Builder, you can create Topics and assign Actions, determine instructions and guardrails, and even see your Agent in action in the conversation preview panel on the right-hand side. When testing the agent, the middle section will display helpful details about the actions chosen and execution time so that you can see exactly what the reasoning engine determined based on the input utterance and adapt accordingly.
For further troubleshooting, Event Logs are also readily available within the builder, so that you can easily troubleshoot and review the agent’s behavior, and assess if the right Topics and Actions were selected during the conversations.
Additionally, the Language Settings allow you to determine the primary and additional languages for the agent, but also the overall tone to match with your company’s style, be it more casual or formal.

Model Builder
Model Builder empowers Salesforce customers to create their own AI models from scratch, through a guided interface, and determine how their own data will be used to train them.
There is also the option to bring your own model from Sagemaker, Vertex AI for predictive models, or Azure and Open AI, etc, for generative models that your organization might have already invested in. The means that you can use models that are already trained with relevant data and will be tailor-made for your business needs.
Models can have different versions, and within Model Builder, you can also review their accuracy, overall performance, or activity.

Data Cloud Builders
Visual Builder for Segments
Segmentation is one of the core processes within Salesforce Data Cloud, so breaking down your data into segments based on objects from your data model is crucial to making the most of it. When creating segments and not using a template, you will be prompted to choose a Visual Builder to continue with the creation.
While this one is not a fully-fledged builder with as much functionality in comparison with others on the list, the wizard-like experience makes it straightforward to input the data space, data model object (DMO), and lookback period prior to publishing it.

Insights Builder
By enabling Data Cloud customers to create calculated or streaming insights using SQL – through a user-friendly, drag-and-drop interface similar to other builders on this list – Insights Builder becomes a powerful ally for quickly uncovering data-driven insights to support a range of business initiatives.
When creating insights, you can choose between a multitude of nodes, including Join, Transform, and even Filters to narrow down the data and Aggregate to add measures and dimensions to your insight.

Revenue Cloud Builders
Pricing Procedure Builder
As you might already have guessed from the name, the Pricing Procedure Builder allows you to transform your business decisions and considerations into Pricing Procedures, which will determine the final price of your products.
When working on a Pricing Procedure version within the builder, you can drag and drop Pricing Elements from the left panel, and opt to add them directly through the plus sign on the canvas. Depending on the element chosen, you will have to fill in appropriate details such as input and output variables and rules, determine if the Price Waterfall should be turned off for the element, and even the access by profile for the waterfall view.
If you would like the element to be included in the waterfall, the option to Include in Output within the element’s details section has to be checked.
It’s worth noting that within the Pricing Procedure Builder, you can run simulations to ensure that your procedure behaves as expected and make any necessary changes before activating it.

Constraint Builder
After a beta period, Constraint Builder is generally available in Salesforce’s Summer ‘25 release for Revenue Cloud customers. Product customization can be tricky, and often time-consuming or rigid for both operational and sales teams – this is no longer the case with the highly customizable constraint models that admins, business users, or developers can create and maintain.
Constraint Builder is the point-and-click visual option to define rules and constraints, which also includes a few templates for common scenarios, while Constraint Modeling Language (CML) can be easily leveraged by developers in a custom editor within the builder to use code instead.
There are quite a few available constraint and rule types to choose from and combine to make the product or bundle configuration much easier. For example, you can use required rules to ensure that certain products are always sold together, or conditional logic constraints alongside message rules to guide the user through selecting the right product and attribute combinations.

Marketing Cloud Builders
Content Builder
In Marketing Cloud Engagement, Content Builder is the go-to place for images, documents, and overall personalized content that teams will be using for various outreach efforts across any channel.
While HTML can be used as well, there’s no prerequisite to have any extended knowledge on it, as within the builder itself, everything can be personalized with drag and drop functionality, and templates can be used and reused as needed. With Content Builder, teams can work at scale, create different variations of content as needed, and leverage generative AI directly in their flow of work, be it Einstein for generating content, or Typeface for image creation.
Journey Builder
Personalizing audience experience is one of the most complex Marketing processes, especially when it comes to the various digital channels customers and prospects could engage with your brand. Journey Builder empowers marketers to swiftly deliver meaningful and targeted Campaigns across email, SMS, and even third-party messaging such as WhatsApp in an event-driven context, be it prospects downloading a whitepaper or recipients just opening an email.
With the help of Journey Builder and its highly intuitive interface, marketers can guide customers with just-in-time bespoke content during the entire duration of the sales cycle, for example, based on their communication preferences.

Email Builder
Available when creating Email Content, this Marketing Cloud Email Builder is created on the same interface as the Lightning Email Builder mentioned above. The functionality does differ in terms of styling, responsiveness, preview, and publishing.
A nice addition in this builder is the readily available Divider component, as well as the option to stack columns on mobile in the form of a checkbox within the Settings if marketers choose to use it. Alongside the ability to quickly edit the copy, preview the email with a sample recipient, and even schedule the unpublish, will ensure that marketers have a sleeker experience creating the templates.

Contact Builder
If your team needs to manage all data about any contacts directly within Marketing Cloud Engagement, then Contact Builder is the place to go! Admins and marketers can leverage the built-in functionality to link, organize, and consolidate data from both internal and external sources in one place, creating a single customer view that includes all their interactions with the company.

Final Thoughts
Even by looking at the number of available out-of-the-box builders, it is clear that Salesforce invested (and keeps doing so) in user-friendly tools, which can empower Salesforce professionals to deliver bespoke solutions efficiently, regardless of which cloud they are working on.
From report creation to process automation, customizable digital experiences, data unification, and everything in between, each builder has a well-defined purpose and functionality meant to facilitate the implementation of either simple or more complex use cases.
