TrailblazerDX in San Francisco has once again delivered a jam-packed event, and this year, the spotlight was firmly on Agentforce. If Agentforce still feels a bit abstract or disconnected from your daily work, the key takeaway from TDX was loud and clear – AI and Agentforce are the future of Salesforce, and now is the time to get on board.
In this post, I’ll break down the biggest announcements and must-know features from TrailblazerDX ‘25. Let’s dive in!
Declining Populations Are Driving the Need for AI
Globally, population growth is slowing, and by 2030, an estimated 85 million jobs could go unfilled. The challenge? Business growth relies on people. Economic growth and prosperity depend on thriving businesses. So, if there aren’t enough people, wealth declines.
“What if we could use technology to scale human capacity?” Patrick Stokes
As humans, we have natural limits. We need rest, food, and time with our families and communities. AI Agents, on the other hand, don’t have these constraints. They aren’t bound by time zones, working hours, or physical locations.
The vision is clear: AI can help counter labor shortages, prevent business stagnation, and drive economic growth. AI Agents can boost capacity and efficiency.
However, the keynote made another thing clear; Large Language Models (LLMs) alone aren’t the solution. An LLM can’t function in isolation – it needs to be part of a larger system with data, APIs, apps, and agents. That’s where Agentforce comes in, as Salesforce’s solution to integrate these components seamlessly.
But Agentforce isn’t plug-and-play, it requires skilled professionals to configure it for specific business needs, craft effective prompts, and fine-tune guardrails. That’s where we come in.
From Trailblazers to Agentblazers
While Agentforce might not seem essential to your role today, Salesforce predicts that AI is the next revolution and those who don’t upskill risk being left behind.
“Tomorrow’s jobs belong to today’s learners.” Leah McGowen-Hare
To help Trailblazers develop AI and Agentforce expertise, Salesforce has introduced Agentblazer Status, a new recognition system for those mastering these technologies. There are three levels – Champion, Innovator, and Legend – earned by completing Trailhead modules and passing your Agentforce Specialist certification.
Salesforce’s ambitious goal? To build a community of one million Agentblazers by the end of 2025.
Agentforce Developer Edition
But how can you truly become an Agentblazer when you can’t even get your hands on the product? That’s been a common frustration in the community ever since Agentforce was announced.
But at TDX ‘25, Salesforce announced you can now access an Agentforce Developer Edition org, giving you hands-on experience with Agentforce and Data Cloud.
Agentforce 2dx
Think back to about a year ago when everyone was buzzing about Einstein Copilot, Salesforce’s user-facing AI assistant. It was smarter than a chatbot but still operated through conversational interactions.
Einstein Copilot hasn’t disappeared, it’s simply evolved. It’s now called Agentforce Default, serving as an in-platform assistant that can summarize accounts, highlight top deals, and provide real-time insights for users.
But Agentforce has grown beyond just one AI assistant. There are now multiple Agent types, each designed for different roles and use cases:
- Agentforce Default: The AI assistant within Salesforce, offering user-facing support.
- Agentforce SDR: Acts as a business development representative, working leads, handling initial outreach, answering questions, and handing off to human reps when needed.
- Agentforce Sales Coach: Provides real-time coaching for your sales team.
- Agentforce Service Agent: Automates the customer support process across key digital channels
- Agent for Setup: Provides navigation, support, and assistance to Salesforce Admins using Setup
These Agents aren’t just glorified chatbots, they’re capable of deliberate thinking and analytical decision-making. Agentforce 2dx takes AI assistance beyond simple reactive interactions and into proactive problem-solving.
A Real-World Example: Then vs. Now
Imagine you run a company that sells smart light bulbs that require a WiFi connection. AI Agents can help manage common customer inquiries, like refund requests.
- Before Agentforce 2dx: A customer visits your website and asks, “My lightbulbs won’t work – how can I get a refund?” An Agent provides a knowledge article on your refund policy, but the customer still has to contact support for further troubleshooting.
- With Agentforce 2dx: Your AI Agent is proactive, not just reactive. Instead of waiting for a customer to report a problem, the Agent detects an issue and reaches out first: “We’ve noticed you’re experiencing connectivity issues with your smart light bulbs. The issue appears to be related to your internet connection.”
This shift from reactive to proactive AI assistance is what makes Agentforce 2dx a game-changer.
Lifecycle for Agentforce 2dx
All these new Agentforce features sound great, but how do you properly test and deploy them to ensure success? At TDX ‘25, Salesforce unveiled a suite of Agentic development tools designed for no-code, low-code, and pro-code builders alike.
One standout is Testing Center, a mission-critical tool that allows you to generate automated, AI-powered tests – not just one or two, but hundreds if needed. This ensures your Agent performs exactly as expected before deployment, giving you confidence in its reliability.
Agentforce for Setup
I attended an insightful session on Agentforce for Setup, a conversational AI designed to boost Salesforce Admin productivity within Setup.
Out of the box, Agent for Setup will come with several powerful capabilities, including:
- Help: Ask the Agent how to perform common tasks, like “How do I freeze a user?” or “How do I deactivate a user?”.
- Report Types: The Agent can create custom report types based on your specifications.
- Connected Apps: Get clear explanations of what a Connected App is and how it works.
- Permissions: Understand why a user has access to certain objects or features.
Looking forward, there are already plenty of other exciting features on the roadmap:
- Formulas: The Agent will generate formulas based on natural language prompts.
- Objects and Fields: It will be able to create objects and fields for you.
- Navigation: The Agent will guide you directly to the right page, e.g. “Where do I create a validation rule?”.
- Auth Providers: It will assist with authentication setups, like “Create an Auth Provider to log in via Google”.
Salesforce made one thing clear: Agentforce for Setup isn’t here to replace admins, it’s here to make their lives easier by automating routine tasks, so they can focus on more strategic work.
Agent for Setup is bundled with the Agentforce platform, so if you purchase Agentforce for Sales, you’ll automatically get Agent for Setup included.
AgentExchange Marketplace
Building AI Agents from scratch takes time, which is why Salesforce launched AgentExchange, a marketplace where Partners and Agentblazers can share and discover Agentforce components.
There are four key component types:
- Actions: Ready-to-use integrations (Apex, Flows, APIs, and prompts) to expand an Agent’s capabilities for industry-specific tasks.
- Prompt Templates: Pre-written, reusable prompts that ensure interactions are structured and effective.
- Topics: Grouped actions and instructions around a specific task to keep AI responses consistent and within guardrails.
- Agent Templates: Pre-built AI workflows combining multiple Topics and Actions, with metadata and global instructions to streamline deployment.
This marketplace is more than just a repository – it’s a learning hub for exploring the art of the possible with AI Agents. It offers an easy way to see what others have built and adapt it to fit your unique needs!
